Leopard Gecko:
Price Range: Leos cost from $15-$3000
Size: The males 8-10 inches,females 7-8 inches, and hatchlings 3-4 inches
Lifespan: they live for around 10-20 years
Caging: hatchling 5 gallon, 1 adult gecko 10 gallon, to keep more that one adult gecko, 10 gallon plus 5 gallons for each additional gecko
Lighting and Temperature: An undertank heater is the best; no special UVB bulbs. A simple regular bulb can be used for viewing. the warm sid eshould be 80-90 degrees and the cool side above 70.Leopard Gecko: Substrate: You can use paper towels, reptile carpet, pea gravel, and no sand. Sand causes a condition which is called impaction. Impaction is when the gecko eats the sand and it builds up in the gut, which causes death.
Food: The staple should be mealworms, crickets, or feeder roaches. Treats that can be given are superworms or waxworms. NO pinkies are allowed.
Water: a shallow water dish filled with fresh water is needed at all times.
Handling: Leopard Geckos have great temperments. Even though hatchlings are a bit skittish, they need at least a few days to get used to you. Handle no more than 15 min.
Tips: leos appreciate hides; they can be anything from turned over flower pots to more natural looking ones you can buy in a pet store.
